For him there was no other way of truly knowing a person without loving them unconditionally besides this, his idea also involved motivating the loved on to work on maximizing their potentials. Frankl saw love as the sole tool to uncover a human’s layers and reach his inner soul. This is where he also drew parallels between unconditional love and leading a meaningful and sorted life. Existential theorist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl in his book Man’s Search for Meaning laid down the principles of his therapy called logotherapy.

Maslow supported this idea proposed by Rogers by putting forth the notion that in order for an individual to grow, they must develop or hold healthy thoughts about themselves. The idea proposed by Rogers was embedded in understanding individual needs and giving them a genuine, authentic, accepting, and empathetic approval and support. Thus, unconditional love is a pivotal essence of humanistic psychology. From the psychological point of view, the founding stone of unconditional love was laid down by Carl Rogers when he established the principle of unconditional (positive) regard in his therapeutic theory.
